Early Symptoms

Why is it important to seek help early?

New research has revealed that many people with low vision wait too long before seeking help and support, putting them at an increased risk of falls, accidents and depression.  Further, any change in vision such as blind spots, blurriness, or lack of clarity can be an indication of an underlying medical condition.

Who can help me?

It can help to know who to contact when you experience vision problems. Early symptoms can include any of the following:

  • Should you experience any sudden vision loss or distortion, double vision or pain in your eye, seek emergency assistance.
  • Contact an optometrist or ophthalmologist if you have difficulties with reading, distinguishing colours or shapes, seeing objects to the side or if you have any medical condition such as diabetes.
